At Shalom Counselling Services, we are committed to a safe, respectful, and professional space for everyone who receives services. All staff, counsellors/therapists, and students/interns are expected to follow clear professional boundaries and standards of conduct. Shalom takes active steps to prevent abuse and misconduct through screening, training, supervision, and clear expectations. Abuse, harassment, exploitation, sexual misconduct, or any other behaviour that crosses professional boundaries is not tolerated—whether services are provided in person or online.
We also take feedback and concerns seriously. If you are a client and have a concern about any aspect of the service you received, we encourage you to first speak with your counsellor. If the concern is not resolved, you may request to speak with Shalom’s Clinical Director. If you continue to have concerns, you may complete the Feedback and Concern Form.
If you are a member of the public and wish to share feedback or concerns about Shalom, you may contact the Executive Director (519) 886-9690, request contact by the Board Chair or a designated Board Member, or submit the Feedback and Concern Form by mail, fax (519) 886-7832, or in person.
All written complaints are reviewed by the Executive Director and the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors. We will respond within 10 working days. If the response does not resolve your concerns, we will explain further steps you can take. A response will be made within 5 working days if the concern pertains to misconduct and specifically abuse.
You may also choose to make a complaint directly to your counsellor’s regulatory college. For a Social Worker (RSW), contact the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW). For a Registered Psychotherapist (RP), contact the College of Registered Psychotherapist of Ontario (CRPO).
