Development Officer – Fundraising (Canada Summer Jobs)
Temporary Summer Contract (.8 FTE, 4 days per week (M-Th) – 30 hours)
Position begins: June 22, 2026 (9 weeks)

Key Responsibilities
Marketing and Communications
- Support with end-to end delivery of marketing initiatives, including social media, website, print, in-person, and other as identified.
- Assist in developing marketing collateral, including social posts, digital ads, website content, print content, and other as identified.
- Assist in generating regular reports on marketing statistics and trends, and/or campaign or asset performance.
Fundraising and Event Planning
- Support the planning, coordination, and execution of Shalom’s fundraising events, and related initiatives.
- Help manage event timelines, checklists, and follow-up activities.
- Assist with sponsor fulfillment and help ensure program and event deliverables are completed accurately and professionally.
Administrative and Grant Support
- Support fundraising administration and assist with the day-to-day execution of fundraising communication.
- Respond to and route donor and prospect inquiries by phone, email, and other channels in a professional and timely manner.
- Assist with donor database updates, pledge tracking, contact information management, and fundraising event documentation.
- Assist in compiling statistics or information for use in funding proposals.
We are looking for candidates who have/are:
- Currently pursing post-secondary education in communications, public relations, marketing, nonprofit management, or a related field.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Canva, WordPress, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Digitally savvy with a strong understanding of online marketing trends, social media platforms, and common digital tools.
- Familiarity with website content updates and event promotion coordination.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
Contract Details
This role is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) program. International Students are not eligible to apply. To be eligible, applicants must meet CSJ program requirements, including being 15 to 30 years of age at the start of employment, being a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person granted refugee protection in Canada, and being legally entitled to work in Canada.
Duration: June 22, 2026-August 20, 2026 (9 weeks)
Hours: 4 days (30 hours)/week
Compensation: $23.00/h – Living Wage Ontario (Waterloo-Wellington Region)
