As a community we are experiencing enormous change, upheaval, loss and fear. The accessibility of mental health services in our community is especially important at this time. Requests for counselling at Shalom are increasing, while many people have experienced a reduction in income. This combination leads to a need for more affordable counselling, and Shalom is working to meet this need.
10,000 Steps for Mental Health is a walk to support affordable and accessible counselling. We have made the decision to hold this year's event virtually. Although we would prefer to be together as a community taking steps for mental health, we have made the decision to encourage participation from the location of your choice. This removes the risks associated with gathering as a group, and allows each of us to find our own meaningful space to take 10,000 steps for mental health. We hope to be able to join together again next year!
Date: Saturday, September 19, 2020
Time: Virtual send off at 9 am - registered participants will be sent the link.
Location: To maintain the health and safety of all participants, we are encouraging virtual participation this year.
