Helping People Grow Toward Peace and Wholeness
Good mental health means finding a balance in all areas of your life: social, emotional, physical, spiritual, and mental.

At Shalom Counselling, we believe that good mental health means finding balance in all parts of life—your emotions, relationships, body, mind, and spirit.
We are a trusted, nonprofit community counselling service in the Waterloo Region.
We offer support to individuals, couples, and families with care that is kind, respectful, and affordable. Our goal is to help people feel better and build stronger mental health through conversation and connection.
We welcome people from all backgrounds, cultures, life experiences, and beliefs. Whether or not faith or spirituality is part of your life, we honour your story and work with what matters to you.
At Shalom, we believe:
- Talking with someone can help.
- Life’s challenges can help us grow.
- Healing happens when we work together.
- Everyone deserves support for their mental health.
- Faith and spirituality can help people heal and grow.
You don’t have to go through hard times alone. We’re here to support your journey toward peace and wellness.
Community counselling since 1983
We provide affordable, high-quality therapy rooted in compassion, dignity, and care staffed by registered counselling professionals.
We walk alongside people facing life’s struggles—depression, grief, anxiety, relationship conflict, spiritual questions, and more—supporting growth, healing, and mental well-being. Our work is grounded in the belief that every person can find peace and strength through supportive relationships and meaningful conversations. We celebrate the diversity of our community and honour each person’s unique story.
Thanks to many generous donors, Shalom makes counselling affordable and accessible with an equity-based fee scale.
Shalom is also a member of the Counselling Collaborative of Waterloo Region (CCWR), a partnership between six non-profit, community mental health agencies within Waterloo Region. The CCWR works together to make it easier for people to find local and affordable counselling, wherever they live in the Region.
